The research and development activities include: detection and measurement of physiological signals and parameters; design of biomedical instrumentation for clinical and research applications; analysis of biological signals by computers; Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS); telemedicine and teleradiology; the contractile mechanism and models of muscle contraction; assessment of myocardial contractility of the ejecting heart and its application to man; excitation contraction coupling and interval-strength relationships in mammalian cardiac muscles;mechanisms of mechanical alterations in the cardiac muscle and in the beating heart; analysis of the transient hemodynamic response of the beating heart by using an original difference equation method; chaos and its application to the heart; and a computerized pressure algometer.
