The department of Surgery is regarded as a national leader in advanced minimally invasive surgery and is known worldwide in this field. In addition to its clinical interests, the surgery department actively participates in academic research, publishing 8 – 10 papers annually and presenting findings at national and international conferences.
Research Activities include:
Oncologic abdominal surgery. Endocrine surgery (thyroid diseases). Colorectal surgery (inflammatory bowel disease). Breast pathologies. Laparoscopic bowel and solid organ surgery. Perioperative care - the optimal length of intravenous antibiotics for the treatment of abdominal infections. Hemodialysis access. The care of trauma victims of terror attacks.
