The department maintains comprehensive cooperation with family practitioners in the community, serving as a center of excellence and consultation on early identification and referral of patients with chronic kidney disease. The department consists of a haemodialysis unit with 16 stations; a peritonealdialysis unit; a day care unit and an in-patient consultation unit.
Research Activities include:
Non-transferrin bound iron (NTBI) in dialysis patients. Treatment of renal artery stenosis in patients with advanced renal failure by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting. Acupuncture in the relief of uremic pruritis.
