The Pathology Institute of the Shaare Zedek Medical Center is comprised of a Department of Pathology and a Cytology Unit. The job of the pathologist is to diagnose disease by examining biopsies, which are tissue samples excised from the patient. There is a wide spectrum of diseases encountered including benign and malignant tumors and a vast array of other diseases. The exact and accurate diagnosis is essential and critical in the future care and treatment of the patient.
Research Activities include:
Hypertension and diabetes in rats. Kidney pathology in Cohen diabetic rats. Immunutherapy of ulcerative colitis. Basic molecular processes during the development of hyperplasia and hypertrophy, with emphasis on changes in chromatin remodeling and on changes in molecular motors in the cell.
