The areas of activity of the Ear, Nose and Throat Department & Head and Neck Surgery are: head and neck surgery, ear surgery, treatment of diseases of the ear, pediatric otolaryngology, nose and sinus surgery, vocal cord surgery, endoscopic surgery and treatment of dizziness.
Research Activities include:
Middle ear ventilation and its role in middle ear pathology. Laser tonsillotomy. Laser myringotomy. The sole treatment of acute rhinosinusitis with a steroid nasal spray. The anatomical dimensions of the round window using advanced imaging techniques. Nasal resonance in sinusitis. Light spectrometry in the diagnosis of otitis media. The effect of a fistula in the semi-circular canals on the vulnerability of the inner ear to impulse noise and on bone conduction threshold in the sand rat. Does previous noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) protect or make the ear more susceptible to additional NIHL.
