The Division of Geriatrics includes three units of distinct function: Acute Geriatric Department - containing 38 beds. This department treats inpatients with severe illnesses. Rehabilitation Unit - containing 10 beds. The patients hospitalized in this unit usually arrive at the department as a result of a stroke, a broken hip or rehabilitation following an illness accompanied by functional impairment. Nursing Unit - containing 14 beds. Most of the inpatients in the unit are in need of complex nursing services or are in conditions defined as sub-acute. In terms of academic activity, the department staff take part in a variety of research projects, with an average of 6 publications per year and 8-10 presentations in professional conferences.
