Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry is active in many research fields of psychiatry, with particular emphasis on schizophrenia, eating disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder and depression. Many of the studies focus on the molecular genetics of the major psychiatric disorders, in adults and in children. Other research projects include the psychological distress of cancer patients, which focus on specific groups, e.g., Holocaust survivors and structural and functional brain imaging in various mental disorders. A third field of study consists of evaluating the etiology and longitudinal course and pathogenesis of mental disorders.
