The Department of Pathology has a number of laboratories, some involved in basic research, others combining clinical research with basic sciences. Research in the department involves studying disease processes and the pathogenesis of human disease utilizing diverse methodologies and models. These include morphological studies as well as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, cDNA arrays, tissue arrays, HPLC, and ELISA as well as conventional biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Disease models employed in various research fields include cell culture systems, animal models and studies involving human tissues.
