Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ein Kerem)

Gynecological research is conducted on Meigs syndrome, laparoscopy, papillary serous cystadenofibroma of the ovary, ovulation induction and the risk of endometrial cancer, hysteroscopic surgery in postmenopausal women, postmenapausal osteroporosis, the effect of LDL on both the vascular system and bone mineralization, laparoscopic surgery during pregnancy and focused ultrasound treatment of uterine fibroids. The department is engaged in an active collaboration with the Department of Experimental Surgery. In this laboratory, novel drug treatments are applied to the study of the induction of growth arrest in ovarian carcinoma cells as well as non-surgical treatment of uterine leiomyomas. Research in infertility includes studies in effective cryopreservation, adhesion molecules and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, azoospemia and familial Mediterranean fever and the role of aging in infertility. Obstetric research encompasses varied aspects of perinatology and comprises induction of labor and breech presentation, the relationship between parity and fertility in women older than 45, listeriosis and CMV infection during pregnancy, placenta accreta and pregnancy outcome, uterine muscle strength in older women and ultrasound and MRI in perinatology.
