The department offers instruction in evolutionary biology, organismic and population biology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additional educational goals which the department has set for itself are the training of professional ecologists for administering and preserving natural resources; the education of expert scientists for the advancement of these research areas; the training of biology teachers on a high level. The department seeks to strengthen cooperation and integrate research of ecology and evolution with other disciplines in order to enable a multidisciplinary approach to diverse biological and anthropological, as well as economic, sociological and psychological, phenomena.
