The Jerusalem Development Authority
The JDA is a statutory authority defined as a joint government/municipal corporation. It is under the authority of the Minister of Finance, the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and the Mayor.
The JDA responsibilities include: initiating activities and preparing plans for the economic development of Jerusalem; encouraging economic initiatives for the development of Jerusalem; coordinating between the government ministries, authorities and bodies dealing with the development of Jerusalem; providing information with respect to all matters connected with economic initiatives, plans and enterprises in Jerusalem; advising and assisting in all matters connected with the planning and establishment of economic enterprises in Jerusalem, especially with respect to the procedures required by law.
Within the framework of JDA's activities, major urban complexes and model residential neighborhoods have been built in Jerusalem. The city's appearance has been improved, modern industrial and hi-tech areas have been developed, and an infrastructure and road system has been set up that has changed patterns of life in the city.
